Quoting is where trading companies lose time they can't get back.
An RFQ arrives at 10:40. Somebody reads it, works out what the customer means, looks up what's in stock, checks what this customer paid last time, asks whether the discount is allowed, builds the quotation, and sends it. For a long BOQ that's most of an afternoon.
Do that several times a day and quoting becomes the constraint on how much business you can chase.
Most of what makes that work possible isn't written down anywhere.
Which brand a particular contractor means when they don't say. Which substitutions are acceptable and which will be rejected. What this customer was charged last year and why. Which supplier is quickest on which item.
It's in the heads of the people who've been there longest. When one of them leaves, it leaves with them — and the replacement rebuilds it over several years, slowly and expensively.
Two things changed.
Messy text became machine-readable. Understanding that “4C x 16mm XLPE/SWA/PVC Cu” and “16mm 4 core armoured copper” are the same request used to require a person. It doesn't any more.
But the money part still shouldn't be automated. A general-purpose AI tool will happily produce a quotation with a wrong price and no explanation. That's not an improvement on an experienced salesperson; it's a liability. The useful version reads the RFQ with a model and decides the commercial terms with fixed rules you set — and shows you its reasoning on every line.
That combination is what's new, and it's why this is a product rather than a prompt.
UAE e-invoicing arrives in phases.
Businesses at or above AED 50 million in turnover appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and go live 1 January 2027; below that threshold, appointment by 31 March 2027 and go-live 1 July 2027 — most trading companies we speak to are in this second group, so treat the earlier date as someone else's deadline, not necessarily yours.
We don't make you compliant — that runs through an Accredited Service Provider, and we aren't one. But it does mean structured, accurate product data stops being optional. An invoice built from a quote where every line has a real part number and a correct unit is an invoice less likely to fail validation.
If your product data is going to have to get tidier anyway, quoting is a useful place to start, because it's the part that pays for itself immediately.

Paste in something you received this week and see what comes back. Takes a minute, and it'll tell you more than a demo call would.
